I originally built these when my Opa (grandfather) passed earlier this year. When I was cleaning out his barn I found this beautiful old cedar and had to do something with it. I crafted these for my dad as a memory of his father that is both practical and beautiful.

The wood is recycled and repurposed Juniperus Virginiana. It has been reclaimed, planed and finished to pull out its grain and colour that can’t be found in other woods. This wood is both warm and aromatic — pleasant to look at and be around. For those who actually care about how they sound, they’re made with 3” Hi-Vi Research Full range drivers, providing an effective frequency range of 80-20000Hz. These are Aluminum Magnesium Fullrange cones tined in a way that complements the wood nicely.

The subjective spectacle of what they mean to my family might not be present for all, but they are still beautiful, practical objects that sound great on a desk paired with an amplifier.
